Ever since the 1990's New House have worked with Almedahls in Sweden to produce many of our roller blind fabrics, homewares or our unique designs.
Based in the small Swedish town of Kinna just 30 minutes from Gothenburg, Almedahls began production in 1846, so are one of the most historic of the Swedish textile producers and have developed many skills over the years. I never tire of visiting their plant and seeing what is being produced.
Last week I watched a two-colour leaf design being made on one of their rotary screen printers.
I found a pallet of 1555m of Grand Colonial fabric just in from the weaver, which after inspection, bleaching and coating will eventually land in New House's warehouse and be sent to blind makers who will skillfully turn this fabric into blinds.
This is the action-end of one of Almedahls blackout fabric coating lines where they carefully apply a thin layer of acrylic onto the fabric before heat-setting it in a computer controlled stenter.

This is the colour kitchen where all the dyestuff's are automatically mixed and checked for consistency.
Just about all our roller blind fabrics go through the calendaring machine, where a heavy roller compresses the fabric to reduce stresses in the yarns. New House and Almedahls are unique in this as this is a historic technique that helps produce a better fabric.
The end product is a beautiful well-made textile product for your home. Whether it is a blind for your window or a gorgeous table cloth, New House and Almedahls have worked together for so many years that we are confident that the design and quality will always be excellent.
